๐Ÿ’ค Sleep is a biological requirement for human life, alongside food, water, and air.

๐Ÿ’ค Insomnia affects between 30-45% of the adult population.

๐Ÿ’ค Sleep plays a critical role in emotional processing.

๐Ÿ’ค It is shown that sleep supports the formation of emotional episodic memories throughout all the stages that compose memory processing.ย

๐Ÿ’ค Sleep loss deteriorates both the encoding of emotional information and the emotional memory consolidation processes.

๐Ÿ’ค Recent studies have suggested that the sleep hormone melatonin may be beneficial for the treatment of COVID-19.ย

๐Ÿ’ค Individuals who frequently change their sleep timing, and consequently their pattern of light/dark exposure, may experience misalignment between the circadian system and the sleep/wake cycle, since the circadian clock takes time to adjust to schedule changes. Such misalignment may have an adverse effect on both cognitive function and health.

Today is the perfect opportunity to reflect on your own sleep, and think of ways to give your brain and body the rest they need. Create your sleep opportunity โœจ
